In 2022 we had the joyous job of researching the many stories of the Merredin Main Street so that we could create a mural which captured the history of the local businesses and families who have helped to make this town the bustling little hub it is.

Working with our very own talented local Jessie Spring, a 1930’s-esque street scape was devised, with nods to some of Merredin’s great innovators, pioneers, and wonderful characters scattered through-out.
Hours and hours of research go into making a mural, with many days spent scouring Trove, in-Herit, local archives, photo-collections and interviews. We were so delighted by all the wonderful treasures we discovered, we wanted to share them with you, and give you the chance to contribute to the mural, too!

Have a wander down the Main Street using our Mural Map, learn a little about the businesses of the past and what life was like from 1910-1950, and if you have a story or photograph you’d like to contribute, use the form below!

We can’t wait to read your memories of the Merredin Main Street!
